For generations, classical music's stages, scores, and scholarships have reflected only a fraction of the voices that belong there. Ricketts Vocal Arts exists to change that, through competition, scholarships, partnerships, and commitment to the composers and students who have been overlooked for too long.
Ricketts Vocal Arts is a Houston-based arts resource organization dedicated to amplifying BIPOC composers in the classical vocal tradition, providing scholarships and direct support to underserved students pursuing formal vocal study, and building partnerships with mission-driven organizations that share our commitment to equity and excellence in the arts. We believe the classical vocal tradition is not diminished by inclusion and representation. It is completed by it.
Ricketts Vocal Arts grew out of the Cecily Ricketts Arts Foundation, named for the mezzo-soprano mother who first put music in our founder's hands. The name has evolved. The mission has only deepened.

Talent is everywhere. Opportunity is not. We fund private voice lessons and broader academic scholarships for underserved students who have the drive and deserve the resources.

We collaborate with mission-aligned schools, arts nonprofits, cultural institutions, and community organizations to extend our reach and deepen our impact. Because this work is bigger than any one organization, and we are stronger together.

Masterclasses, recitals, concerts, composer spotlights, and events that bring classical vocal music into the spaces, and the hands of the people, it was always meant to reach.
